Well, I joined one of the major online dating services and found out that some men are just plain scammers out there. Have you heard the one about the widow. He has 1 child living at home (he is my age which is 50+) and the child is about 8 years old. Now he has no other children, just the one but he was married at a younger age and they had their child while they were around 33...so does he think I can't add(?) and see that the supposed child is actually somewhere between 17 or 18 years old or older?
Anyway, some of them start out with bad English gammer mistakes, like leaving out "the" or writing in the sentence doesn't make sense when you read it. Some have very good gammer and you feel like you have met someone really nice. Their picture on the site always is of a very handsome man who looks younger then what he is claiming his age is. He lives in your state, but usually farther away then you want to travel for a first date to meet him and he always wants you to come to him, not come to your area or meet half way point. He doesn't like it when you suggest that you bring a friend with you for this first date, because as he puts it, you are just getting together to talk and having someone else there cramps his style. You finally get him to agree to meet you in your home town at a place where you know the people. Date and time are set and then all the sudden he is called "out of town" on business. His child is either with him on the trip or back home. Depends on the sitution he presents.
Next time he emails, he is in Africa closing down the business his father was running over there and moving it back to the states. He will be back in about a week time and then you can get together.
After about a day, you get another email from him telling you that his passport has been stolen and the child is sick and he has to get home and along with the passport all his money was taken. Then comes the heart string pulling and the begging you to send money by Western Union as soon as possible to help him and his son reunite.
I have a folder on my screen called Africa Scammers and there are currently 7 in this file now. It makes me so mad, but I love to play, so I just play along with them in the game. They never get a dime from me and by the time we are fininshed, I have all their information for sending the Westren Union Money Gram to them. I have let the sites that I've joined know of these conartists. It is quite an interesting game they play and if I wasn't working in the financial world some, I may have fallen for their false pleas for help.
So I am writing this to ladies out there who are online to beware of these snakes and don't get too involved. No them for who they are...have some fun in catching them and bringing them to light to the website you are working on, but don't ever send them money! You will never see or hear from them again and if they are really cunning, they could take you for a lot of money.
There aren't just men out there doing this, from what I've been told. Women have there online dating scams too. You lonely men out there...watch out for them as well.
I will post more another time. Have a wonderful day and as I research this online dating scene, I will get busy with some of the fantasies floating around in my head for you.
Stay alert to those scammers out there and know that I will always be BBWNani!
